As a Massachusetts native who spent the last two decades in California, Montana, Colorado, Oregon, and Ohio (and 25 countries traveled in between!), David has been a leader of dynamic organizations dedicated to personal and social transformation. His diverse experience has spanned retreat and spiritual centers, online social platforms, and various educational settings. Within each organization, he has generated new strategies and partnerships that have led to exponential growth and impact. He thrives in shepherding the big picture for organizations by connecting long-term goals to everyday tasks. He has come to respectfully refer to his character as an organizational midwife, nurturing the birth of deeply held visions into reality.
David is currently the Development Director at Inward Bound Mindfulness Education and a member of the Collaborative Leadership Team. iBme is a global leader in offering in-depth mindfulness programming to teens and young adults. iBme supports youth in developing self-awareness, compassion, and ethical decision making, and empowers them to apply these skills in improving their lives and communities. In his most recent role, David was Executive Director of Ecochallenge.org, a digital nonprofit that activates sustainability solutions in schools, communities, and businesses. From middle schools to Fortune 100 companies, 4,500+ organizations in 139 countries have taken 2+ million actions through the Ecochallenge Platform. Prior to Ecochallenge.org, he worked with PassageWorks Institute, a leader in supporting school communities to become places of connection, compassion, equity, and excellence. PassageWorks’ professional learning programs include a suite of evidenced-based mindfulness programs designed specifically for faculty and staff working in ECE-12 settings.
David also has his own digital consulting business working with mission and community-centered businesses and nonprofits. His passion is to help organizations use the power of innovative technology to communicate their values, services, and impact in an authentic, engaging way. David brings his unique experience as a digital expert and nonprofit leader to fulfill these critical needs of social benefit organizations.
In a previous career, David worked as an Underwriting Analyst for commercial earthquake and flood insurance. David has a B.S. in Mathematics and Minor in Economics from Stonehill College in Easton, MA and a Masters in Environmental Leadership at Naropa University in Boulder, CO – an interdisciplinary, contemplative-based program that explores social and ecological innovations at individual, community, and global levels. Part of his research during the program looked at sustaining authentic and resilient nonprofits (see sample publication).
